Our Story: From Home Experiment to Energy Revolution

In 2012, Petr Vaněk, then Head of Research and Development at T-Mobile CE, decided to digitalize the technology in his house, creating a smart-home system prototype before such solutions became standard. His successful prototype inspired him to extend this technology to the industrial sector, where he established partnerships with early customers, including the visionary company Baumruk & Baumruk. We started building Flowbox Next Gen this year - a from-scratch rebuild of our energy management platform. Not a refactor. We're looking for the person who will own the full-stack and IoT layer. This role didn't exist before, we're opening it now because the build is real and it needs a hands-on lead.

What you'll do

  • Design and build core parts of Flowbox Next Gen from zero to production - frontend and backend in TypeScript/Node.js.
  • Build the IoT layer: collecting and processing data from thousands of meters and devices, reliably, even when connectivity drops.
  • Co-own the architecture with Ondřej Hruška (Energy Domain Architect) and drive the open stack decisions (cloud/on-prem, data layer, serverless) - with arguments, not preferences.
  • Set the standards the Next Gen team builds against: code review, testing, CI/CD.

What we're looking for

  • 6+ years of commercial software engineering, with several years owning architecture or leading a build. ‍
  • Genuinely full-stack: strong in TypeScript and Node.js across frontend and backend - not a backend engineer who tolerates React, or vice versa.
  • ‍Real IoT experience: telemetry, device data, cloud connectivity - you know what happens when devices go offline, data arrives out of order, or the system gets hit with a spike.
  • You've built a product from scratch and taken it to production - and you can tell us what you'd do differently next time.

At FLOWBOX we're looking for an experienced DevOps engineer to join our team and take on a key role in automating, securing and keeping our infrastructure reliable.

We run a hybrid infrastructure: around 110 on-premise Debian servers (and growing), Azure cloud (multi-region, serving customers worldwide)
and IoT gateway devices in the energy sector. We're looking for someone who won't just keep this environment running, but actively push it forward.

At the same time we're building the next generation of our platform, Flowbox NG.

That means a big part of the DevOps work isn't about maintaining what's already there, but designing from scratch: what deployment looks like, the architecture of our environments, how we scale and monitor. You won't inherit a finished solution, you'll help build it.

You'll work closely with a small but growing development team and our Production SLA team. We use Claude Code across the company every day to automate workflows and get more done.

What you'll do

  • Design, build and maintain CI/CD pipelines in GitLab CI: automating deployments to test and production environments, including maintenance windows and rollback procedures.
  • Manage infrastructure configuration: currently Ansible, we're evaluating a move to a new tool (for example SaltStack). Infrastructure as code through Terraform.
  • Run our hybrid infrastructure: around 110 on-premise Debian servers, Azure cloud (multi-region) and IoT gateway devices.
  • Evaluate and roll out modern server access management: we're currently working on centralization (SSH keys plus Ansible) and looking for a better solution,
  • Help design the infrastructure for Flowbox NG: deployment model, environments, scaling, observability. A green-field project where most of it is still being figured out, and your decisions will shape it long term.
  • Build monitoring and observability: CheckMK for infrastructure, error tracking (tools still under evaluation), central logging (which we don't have yet).
  • Manage secrets management (Bitwarden) and its integration with our configuration tool.
  • Maintain databases and messaging services: MySQL, MongoDB, MQTT.
  • Contribute to ISO 27001 and NIS2 security standards: regular patching, hardening, audits.
  • Use AI tools (Claude Code) to automate routine tasks, generate scripts and speed up your work.,


What we're looking for

  • Experience with CI/CD systems, ideally GitLab CI.
  • Hands-on Linux administration and scripting skills (Bash, Python).
  • Experience with configuration management: Ansible, SaltStack, Puppet or similar.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure as code tools (Terraform).
  • Experience with Docker and containerization.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred).
  • A good grasp of networking fundamentals, VPNs, firewalls and system monitoring.

We're looking for a Support Engineer to join our support team. This isn't a classic helpdesk.
You can only close a ticket properly once you understand what's actually happening in the system and the data.

You know your way around a database, you understand how a given feature was built, and you can tell the difference between routine support and a paid service request.

You sit between the customer and the developers. When a device that collects data from a building or a production plant stops working, you pick it up, go through the logs and the data, and figure out what's going on. Depending on the situation, you either fix it yourself or hand it off to development with a clear picture of what's happening.

The team is three people right now. Michal leads support, Petr handles day-to-day customer support, and Vadym is our Linux expert. We need you as the fourth, so we finally have real backup when someone's out sick or on vacation. There's room to shape how we work.

What you'll be working on

  • Picking up and resolving customer requests in YouTrack, from simple questions to more complex technical issues.
  • Diagnosing the problem and, where possible, fixing it on the spot – finding a workaround or reconfiguring something, not just passing it on.
  • Digging into the database, SQL and NoSQL, to see what's actually happening in the data.
  • Telling the difference between routine support and something extra that wasn't part of the original agreement and belongs on an invoice.
  • Talking to the dev team about how a feature or integration was originally designed, and shaping the fix accordingly.
  • Monitoring customer environments (CheckMK, Sentry) and catching problems before the customer reports them.

What you need

  • Linux knowledge beyond everyday admin work. You understand processes, permissions, the filesystem, services.
  • A solid grasp of databases – you know the difference between SQL and NoSQL and can pull information out of both.
  • Experience in technical support or IT operations. This role goes beyond L1 helpdesk, so a technical foundation is a must.
  • Czech at a native or C1 level, English at a communicative level for technical conversations.

Our platform measures and manages energy consumption in factories, commercial buildings and smart grids. Customers like Volvo, Westfield shopping centres and the Vysočina Region use it to save energy and cut emissions. Most of our installations are in Czechia and Slovakia, and we're now expanding across Europe and entering the US market.

You'll join our direct sales team of six, where everyone owns their own segment, and report to Jan Denemark, our Head of Sales. Around half of your opportunities come in as leads from marketing and partners. And sales doesn't end at the signature here: you'll work closely with delivery, project managers and engineers to make sure customers get the value they signed up for.

What you'll be working on

  • Winning new customers: manufacturers, real estate owners and municipalities working on energy efficiency, consumption monitoring or ESG targets.
  • Taking leads from marketing and partners all the way to a signed contract.
  • Running discovery meetings to find out where a customer is losing energy and money, then shaping the right solution around it.
  • Guiding clients through the full cycle: first contact, presentation, proposal, negotiation, close.
  • Looking after existing clients: renewals, upsells and growing the partnership.
  • Keeping your CRM and pipeline accurate, and preparing sales plans and reports.

What we're looking for

  • At least 2 years in a B2B sales role, ideally in IT, technology or energy.
  • Experience selling complex solutions with long sales cycles (months, not days).
  • Confidence with C-level and technical people: directors, operations and facility managers, energy managers.
  • A driver's licence and willingness to travel around the country to meet clients.
  • Czech at a native or fluent level, English at a communicative level.
  • You'd rather sell green energy than coal. :-)

  • You already know people in manufacturing, real estate or local government. These are our main segments, so it helps a lot.
  • You've worked with IoT, smart buildings or industrial tech.
  • You use LinkedIn for real outreach, not just networking.
  • You're technically curious. You don't need to be an engineer, but you can talk about energy metering, data flows or SCADA integration without getting lost.
