Omega Optix: The Path to Energy Efficiency with FLOWBOX
How a Czech optical lens manufacturer gained full control over energy consumption across its production facility.

About the Company
Omega Optix is a leading Czech manufacturer of optical and ophthalmic lenses with a long-standing tradition. The company operates a technologically demanding and energy-intensive production facility within a leased premises with a centrally managed reserved energy capacity. Omega Optix has long invested in process modernisation and automation, placing strong emphasis on sustainability and environmental responsibility — as evidenced by its certified energy management system in accordance with ISO 50001.
Challenges
- Energy-intensive production in a centrally managed leased facility
- Centrally reserved energy capacity
- ISO 50001 certified energy management
Project Goal
The primary goal was to obtain detailed measurement and visibility into energy consumption across the production plant, and subsequently use that data to optimise electricity consumption. Prior to deploying FLOWBOX, Omega Optix only had access to overall consumption figures — with no ability to perform deeper energy management or identify inefficiencies at the level of individual technologies and processes.
Key Benefits
- Complete visibility over electricity consumption across the entire production facility
- Precise identification of energy flows, unaddressed consumption points, and energy-intensive production processes
- Data foundation for further optimisations and active energy management
What FLOWBOX Does
FLOWBOX designed and implemented a complete metering infrastructure for monitoring both electricity and production processes. The FLOWBOX EMOS platform delivers:
- Detailed electricity consumption monitoring — both a plant-wide overview and granular insight into individual technologies
- Compressor room integration — monitoring of compressed air production as one of the most energy-intensive parts of operations
- Data visualisation — key energy metrics displayed directly on screens within the facility for instant awareness
- Data analysis and inefficiency detection — regular evaluation of measured data to surface inefficient operating states
- Notifications, reporting and optimisation inputs — precise data supporting both operational improvements and ISO 50001 reporting

What Omega Optix Says About FLOWBOX
