About the role Automation Tester

You'll own the entire test automation strategy and execution. No hand-holding, no bureaucracy - just you, AI tools, and a mission to make sure our energy management platform doesn't break when we scale.

Day-to-day

• Build automated tests for user flows (login, 2FA, registration, email notifications)
• Test IoT device integrations - we're talking MQTT, REST APIs, Modbus, RS485 protocols Cover both backend (PHP/Laravel, Rust) and frontend
• Use AI tools (your choice - Copilot, Cursor, Claude, whatever works) to generate test scripts, automate screen flows, and maintain test suites
• Set up testing metrics and reporting so we actually know what's covered and what's breaking
• Work in GitLab CI/CD - some tests run on MRs, some daily, some for releases
• Collaborate with our 3-5 dev team on test design

Reality check

• We have unit tests (some are accidentally integration tests), but integration test coverage is basically zero. You're starting fresh. Test environment is ready with VMs and IoT devices already connected.

Skills and Knowledge

Must have:

• Mid to senior level - you can architect this independently
• Experience with test automation frameworks (we use PHPUnit, Jest, Cypress, PHPStan, Zeropath)
• Comfortable writing tests for APIs and frontend flows
• Not afraid of IoT protocols and device testing
• Professional Czech or Slovak language skills
• Good English (doesn't need to be perfect, just effective)
• Knows how to leverage AI tools to speed up testing work

Nice to have:

• IoT or embedded systems testing experience
• Energy domain knowledge
• Worked with MQTT, Modbus, or similar protocols before
