At FLOWBOX we're looking for an experienced DevOps engineer to join our team and take on a key role in automating, securing and keeping our infrastructure reliable.

We run a hybrid infrastructure: around 110 on-premise Debian servers (and growing), Azure cloud (multi-region, serving customers worldwide)
and IoT gateway devices in the energy sector. We're looking for someone who won't just keep this environment running, but actively push it forward.

At the same time we're building the next generation of our platform, Flowbox NG.

That means a big part of the DevOps work isn't about maintaining what's already there, but designing from scratch: what deployment looks like, the architecture of our environments, how we scale and monitor. You won't inherit a finished solution, you'll help build it.

You'll work closely with a small but growing development team and our Production SLA team. We use Claude Code across the company every day to automate workflows and get more done.

What you'll do

• Design, build and maintain CI/CD pipelines in GitLab CI: automating deployments to test and production environments, including maintenance windows and rollback procedures.
• Manage infrastructure configuration: currently Ansible, we're evaluating a move to a new tool (for example SaltStack). Infrastructure as code through Terraform.
• Run our hybrid infrastructure: around 110 on-premise Debian servers, Azure cloud (multi-region) and IoT gateway devices.
• Evaluate and roll out modern server access management: we're currently working on centralization (SSH keys plus Ansible) and looking for a better solution,
• Help design the infrastructure for Flowbox NG: deployment model, environments, scaling, observability. A green-field project where most of it is still being figured out, and your decisions will shape it long term.
• Build monitoring and observability: CheckMK for infrastructure, error tracking (tools still under evaluation), central logging (which we don't have yet).
• Manage secrets management (Bitwarden) and its integration with our configuration tool.
• Maintain databases and messaging services: MySQL, MongoDB, MQTT.
• Contribute to ISO 27001 and NIS2 security standards: regular patching, hardening, audits.
• Use AI tools (Claude Code) to automate routine tasks, generate scripts and speed up your work.,

What we're looking for

• Experience with CI/CD systems, ideally GitLab CI.
• Hands-on Linux administration and scripting skills (Bash, Python).
• Experience with configuration management: Ansible, SaltStack, Puppet or similar.
• Knowledge of infrastructure as code tools (Terraform).
• Experience with Docker and containerization.
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred).
• A good grasp of networking fundamentals, VPNs, firewalls and system monitoring.
• Experience with MySQL and/or MongoDB.
• Familiarity with security standards (ISO 27001, NIS2).
• Openness to AI-assisted workflows: Claude Code is a standard part of how we work.

Nice to have

• Experience with IoT protocols (MQTT) or IoT gateway devices in the energy sector.
• Knowledge of SaltStack or another modern configuration management tool besides Ansible.
• Experience with secrets management (Bitwarden, Vault or similar).
• Experience managing a larger fleet of servers (100+).
• A sense of humor.
